HTC HD7 Cell Phone: The Latest Entertainment Sector Smartphone

The HTC HD7 cell phone is one of the latest smartphones focused on the entertainment sector to be released by technology giant HTC. Available since October 2010, the HTC HD7 reflects a combination of the efforts of HTC and software giant Microsoft to create a smartphone optimized for people who want as much entertainment as possible without losing the basic functionality of their smartphones. As a result, the HTC HD7 offers a number of features geared toward both work and play, but with an emphasis on play.

Perhaps the first aspect of the HTC HD7 that is likely to grab the attention of anyone who picks it up is its large 4.3-inch touch screen display. Like nearly every other new smartphone hitting the market these days, the touch screen is the centerpiece of the phone and is designed to let you do everything with it. The resolution of the screen is not particularly spectacular at 800 x 480 pixels, but it is more than enough for most activities people are likely to engage in on a smartphone of this size, such as surfing the Internet and watching videos.

The goal of the HTC HD7 cell phone is to be an entertainment machine, however, beyond the large touch screen, it includes several other features to help it lay claim to the title. For example, it includes a kickstand on the back of the phone that makes it easy to lean the phone back and watch a movie or a video from YouTube. The kickstand also makes it easier for multiple people to view videos for the smartphone at once, although the enjoyment they receive will depend heavily on their seated distance from the screen.

In addition to the touch screen and the kickstand, there are also two large speakers centered on the display that provide stereo sound output. The sound quality is not comparable to that you’d get from dedicated speakers, of course, but it provides a decent listening experience if you are watching something and don’t want to use the included headphone jack. Possibly due to the power consumption of the speakers as well as the touch screen, the battery life of the HTC HD7 is shorter in comparison to the majority of high tech smartphones on the market. The battery itself could use a larger capacity at 1230mAh, but it is still large enough to offer multiple hours of talk time and a few hours of video watching.

Inside the HTC HD7, you’ll find it’s powered by the latest version of Microsoft’s foray into operating systems for smartphones, Windows Phone 7 OS, which parallels the recent release of the desktop class operating system Windows 7. The operating system is powered by a 1 GHz Qualcom processor, which, while not the fastest out there, performs adequately when the phone is being taxed with video, audio, and other applications by the end user.
