Nokia X6 – Nokia’s Most Powerful Entertainment Device Yet

After a slow start in the touchscreen market, Nokia seem intent on catching up with the competition in the X6, which launches in the UK on 24th February.

The Nokia X6 is touted by the Finnish manufacturer as “the must-have all round entertainer” and the first XpressMusic handset to head straight for the high-end.

With specs like this, it’s clear to see that Nokia mean business: 3.2″ 16M-color TFT LCD 16:9 capacitive touchscreen (super-responsive, just how we like it). Symbian S60 5th edition UI, ARM 11 434 MHz CPU, 128 MB of RAM memory, 5 megapixel autofocus camera with dual-LED flash, VGA video recording at 30fps, Wi-Fi, Built-in GPS, 32GB built-in storage, FM radio with RDS, Bluetooth and USB (standard microUSB connector) v2.0 and a 3.5mm audio jack.

If that wasn’t enough, Nokia has refined the handset’s audio quality, bundled a pair of Nokia WH-500 headphones, included a proximity sensor for screen auto turn-off, an accelerometer sensor for motion-based gaming, stereo speakers, TV out and a landscape on-screen virtual QWERTY keyboard…. PHEW!

But that’s not all, when Nokia say the X6 is the complete entertainer, they mean it: The X6 ‘Comes With Music’ edition gives you an all-you-can-eat music subscription package, allowing you to load up your handset with as much of your favourite music you can handle. What’s more – the music you download is yours to keep!

The recent announcement from Nokia, that all its new smartphones will be ready with Ovi maps, straight out of the box also means that the X6 opens up to you a whole new world of integrated, location based services:

Free turn-by-turn navigation for getting around town, plus real-time updates on your friends’ location and local recommendations and a whole host of premium content from Facebook, Michelin Guides and Timeout.

The Nokia X6 might not be able to handle the organisational or multi-tasking functions that the Finnish manufacturer’s current flagship device the Nokia N900 deals with, but for pure quality of entertainment features, the X6 is a must have device.
