Google Nexus One is Just As Good As Any Android Phone

Ever since the release of the Google Nexus One a few months ago, it has been the talk of the town especially among smartphone fanatics. Nexus One is an Android phone designed by Google; the phone however is produced by the HTC Mobile Manufacturer.

Smartphone users who have switched to the Nexus One have branded the phone as the best Android phone sold in the market to date. Let’s take a look at some of the features of Nexus One and see if it can rival the likes of iPhone and other well-known smartphones.

The Appearance

The Nexus One is branded by most as a seemingly twin phone of Apple’s iPhone. This is because at a glance, the Nexus One resembles the iPhone in appearance. Much like the iPhone, Nexus One does not have a physical keyboard. This results in a design that’s slimmer. In fact, the Nexus One is actually thinner than the iPhone with dimensions of 119 by 59.8 by 11.5 millimeters. The phone is also very light weighing only 130 grams.

Nexus One comes with a 3.7 inch Active-matrix organic light emitting diode (AMOLED) capacitive touch screen with display resolution of 480 by 800 pixels. At the bottom of the screen are four touch buttons – the back, menu, home, and search buttons. It also has one trackball pointing device a power button and voice controls at the left side.

Connectivity

This mobile phone that runs the Android 2.1 operating system with a 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor contains all the standard features for connectivity. It comes with a 3G HSDPA and HSUPA and WiFi for internet browsing through the WLAN connections. For data transfer between Nexus One and other gadgets, the phone has microUSB and Bluetooth for cabled and wireless data transmission.

What’s amazing with the Nexus One is the moment the phone is accessed it asks for the user’s Google account and the device will automatically synchronize Gmail, GTalk, Google Maps and other applications into the phone.

Some Applications

Nexus One runs a number of software features that makes the mobile phone pleasurable to use such as the Google Voice, Voice Keyboard and Live Wallpaper.

The Google Voice is an application incorporated into the phone. It allows users to assign their Google Voice number into the phone for text messages and outbound calls. The Voice Keyboard is an application launched last year. The text fields in the phone are all voice enabled. With this feature, users can choose to use the microphone button and talk into the phone and have the speech converted into text.

This application is found to be 90% accurate by some Nexus One users. While Google Voice and the Voice Keyboard are both good for functionality’s sake, the Live Wallpaper is for prepping up the phone. Through the application, users can choose from a variety of wallpapers such as the Grass which shows blades of grass waving gently, Magic Smoke which draws clouds and plasmas in different colors, and Water which when touched gives a rippling effect.

These are just overviews of the features and applications of Nexus One there are many more specifics. But even with just this, Nexus One shows to be one competitive smartphone.
