LG Optimus Chic & LG Optimus One

Amidst a flurry of launches from Nokia and HTC in the smartphone segment, LG has also made its appearance with its two Android competitors, LG Optimus Chic and Optimus One. Whilst providing competition to the Android phones of HTC and Symbian phones of Nokia, LG’s phone are featured pretty closely that they might end up being a competition for themselves. The LG Optimus Chic and LG Optimus One are being billed as the Android budget phones, but they do not, however, compromise on features.

The Optimus Chic has a 3.2 inch capacitive display, which offers multi touch recognition. This is a phone designed for the more style conscious of users and it certainly does not disappoint. The Android 2.2 operating system in this phone is being run by a powerful 600MHZ processor, which makes for smooth operations. As regards to the multimedia, a 5-megapixel camera provided is more than sufficient for taking great quality photos. It can also do video recording at 30 fps. The phone has only 150 MB of on-board memory, but this can be expanded to a maximum of 32 GB via memory card expansion slots provided.

The phone has a 1250 mAh battery, which offers around 5 hours of talk time. When it comes to connectivity, this phone is more than stuffed with connectivity options. In addition to having Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and 3G, this phone also has DLNA support for seamless connectivity amongst various appliances like your TV or home theatre. The phone is on the lighter side, weighing only 132g.

The Optimus One on the other hand, has most of the features of the LG Optimus Chic. The 3.2 inch display, Android 2.2 operating system and the 600 MHZ CPU are all shared with its sibling. The Optimus One though has 170 MB internal memory, which can in a similar way to the Optimus Chic be expanded to a maximum of 32 GB. The camera is only 3-megapixel though, but it can still do video recording but at 18 fps. All these reductions in features have reduced the weight of the phone marginally. The Optimus One weighs in at 129g.

While the Optimus One has all the connectivity options of the Optimus Chic like the Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and 3G, it misses out on the DLNA option. What the Optimus One misses out on, it gains it in another feature. The Optimus One has an extremely powerful 1500 mAh battery, which offers an incredible talk time of more than 7 hours and that too in 3G mode.

LG initially did not have plans to offer both these phones for the UK, but it seems to have changed its mind and will be launching these phones in the UK after all. The Optimus One is set to be launched in October, while the Optimus Chic will be available in November. The Optimus One will be priced at around £220 and though the prices of the Optimus Chic are not yet revealed, one can expect it to be pricier.
