Nokia, once the world leader in technology is planning for its revival once again with a spate of releases in the coming months in various categories. Among those is the curious little phone, the Nokia C3 Touch and Type. Previously, touch screen phones used to be either fully touch operated or with a full QWERTY keyboard. Not anymore. The Nokia C3 Touch and Type, in a way combines the best of both the worlds, the convenience of a touch screen and the usability of a traditional keypad. This is exactly what a lot of phone users have been calling for for some time.
The Nokia C3 Touch and Type does not run on a Symbian^3 operating system. Instead, it runs on the Symbian series 40 6th edition, which is a bit of a let-down when compared with its Android rivals. The phone reminds us of the classic Nokia phones from a few years ago. Nokia have worked on improving the feel of the phone by using 100% stainless steel casing, which makes the phone look very up-market. The Nokia C3 Touch and Type is a Quad band phone and the connectivity options include 3G and Wi-Fi.
Multimedia options are rich in this phone. It has a 5-megapixel camera with flash, which is great for amateur photography as it produces great images. Video capture is also possible with this phone and the phone records the videos in.mp4 or.3gp formats at 20 fps. Even though internal memory is limited to just 30MB, memory can be expanded through memory expansion slots provided. The memory can be increased to a maximum of 32GB via this method. The touch screen offered is a 2.4-inch resistive display, which supports a resolution of 240 x 320. The phone allows easy access to social networking sites such as Twitter and Facebook using the in-built communities application.
The home screen can be personalized with various shortcuts of the applications that you frequently use. You can also send an SMS to a friend by simply touching their photo on your home screen. The Nokia C3 Touch and Type also has a 3.5 mm audio jack, stereo FM and a music player which plays various formats such as MP3, eAAC, AAC, WMA, eAAC+ and so on. It weighs in at a mere 100g and coupled with the ergonomics of the phone, it can be easily called as one of the simplest phones to use. Nokia claims that a user can hold and type all in one hand.
The phone is available in three different colours Warm Grey, Silver and Khaki Gold. The phone is expected to be launched very shortly, with prices expected to be in the £120 range, which makes this is a very affordable and yet a stylish phone to own. The Nokia C3 Touch and Type is a completely revolutionary design of its time. To reintroduce the traditional keyboard when all the phones are switching over to full touch screens might be the greatest decision of all-time. It could also turn out to be one of the worst. Only time will tell.
