Technology advances really fast and I wanted to showcase 10 options that you need to look out for when buying a smartphone. If you don’t have a smartphone for your business or for personal use, you will definitely want to consider one, because you’re going to find that they are worth their weight in gold! Picture a computer for a second and think of all the things that you can do. Now, your smartphone will be able to accomplish the same tasks, and fit in the palm of your hand.
Top 10 things to consider when buying a smartphone
#1 Your phone provider – If you don’t plan on switching phone providers, make sure you look at the phones that your carrier only supports. There are a lot of smart phones out there that don’t work with certain providers.
#2 The data plan – Smart phones are a little more than your usually mobile phone. The reason this is, is because you’re going to have to add on a data plan. Make sure you compare prices to other mobile carriers to ensure you’re getting the best price.
#3 The battery life – You can get a lot of reviews online and while the manufacture will generally tell you how long the battery is going to last, you may want to get an opinion from actual users. You don’t want a phone that is only going to last a few hours.
#4 The operating system – In today’s day and age, all smart phones have different based operating systems. Whether you’re using an Apple, Android, or Blackberry, you will want to know what each operating system can do for you.
#5 Usability – When I say this, you’re going to find that each phone is different with its look and how you can use it. For example, do you want a small keyboard attached? Do you want a flip phone, one that slides, etc? You will really want to get one that is comfortable for you.
#6 Features – Yes, while many smart phones have the same features such as a camera, caller ID, and more. The one thing that I would look for is the applications. For example, you’re going to find a bigger variety between the iPhone, Android, and more.
#7 Multimedia – Some phone carriers have 3G covers, while some such as Sprint have 4G. Basically, the higher the number, the faster your streaming / internet coverage is going to be. This may not be important to some, but if you find yourself streaming music and more, you may want to look into this.
#8 Add ons – With a smart phone, you’re going to get more than a phone. For example, I love my Android phone. I can convert it into a GPS and mount it to my car’s windscreen. This is one example that you can use. Look at accessories and see what you can do.
#9 The size – I have played with some phones in the actual store and have found that some screen sizes are really small. If you have bad eyesight such as mine, you’re going to find that you’re going to want a bigger screen. It also helps to have a bigger screen if you have big fingers like me!
#10 The memory – The last thing on my list is the memory. While this isn’t a problem with many phones, if you’re going to store a lot of items such as pictures, movies, and more, you’re going to want to make sure you have a lot of space.
